A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 22.1-79.4, relating to recycling policies.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 22.1-79.4 as follows:

§22.1-79.4. Recycling policies; report.

No later than June 30 of each year, each local school board shall report to the Superintendent of Public Instruction any recycling policies voluntarily implemented or in place in any of its schools. Such report shall include the types of items recycled, the number of schools participating in the recycling program, and an approximation of the amount of materials being recycled.

This section shall not be construed as requiring a local school division to develop a recycling policy or to implement a recycling program in its schools.
