Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia: 1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding sections numbered 16.1-69.9:5, 17.1-300.1, 17.1-400.1, and 17.1-512.1 as follows: §16.1-69.9:5. Limitation on election and appointment of judges. No person shall be elected or appointed to an original term as a judge if the person (i) is a member of the General Assembly or (ii) was a member of the General Assembly less than 24 months prior to such election or appointment as a judge. §17.1-300.1. Limitation on election and appointment of justice. No person shall be elected or appointed to an original term as a justice if the person (i) is a member of the General Assembly or (ii) was a member of the General Assembly less than 24 months prior to such election or appointment as a justice. §17.1-400.1. Limitation on election and appointment of judge. No person shall be elected or appointed to an original term as a judge if the person (i) is a member of the General Assembly or (ii) was a member of the General Assembly less than 24 months prior to such election or appointment as a judge. §17.1-512.1. Limitation on election and appointment of judge. No person shall be elected or appointed to an original term as a judge if the person (i) is a member of the General Assembly or (ii) was a member of the General Assembly less than 24 months prior to such election or appointment as a judge. |
