WHEREAS, for 100 years, the Women's Tidewater Golf Association has promoted the sport of golf and empowered women athletes of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels; and
WHEREAS, the Women's Tidewater Golf Association was founded by a group of 25 women on November 12, 1924; and
WHEREAS, the Women's Tidewater Golf Association has grown to serve more than 100 members at 11 public and private golf clubs in Hampton Roads; and
WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Women's Tidewater Golf Association has inspired interest in the sport of golf, fostered confidence in new players by familiarizing them with rules, etiquette, and good sportsmanship, and facilitated skill building and participation in competitive play; and
WHEREAS, members of the Women's Tidewater Golf Association serve as volunteers at amateur and professional golf events at the 45 public and private golf courses in the Tidewater Region and other locations across the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, the Women's Tidewater Golf Association is affiliated with the Virginia State Golf Association and benefits from the resources and support of fellow member clubs statewide; and
WHEREAS, women's golf is the fastest growing division of golf in Virginia thanks to the hard work of organizations like the Women's Tidewater Golf Association, and tourism to the Commonwealth's outstanding golf courses provides a significant economy benefit to the Tidewater Region and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Women's Tidewater Golf Association hereby be commended on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Women's Tidewater Golf Association as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's decades of achievements in service to women athletes.
