WHEREAS, Nell Frances Doss, a compassionate advocate for the blind and visually impaired and a vibrant member of the Christiansburg community, died on January 1, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Nell Doss grew up in Sandy Level in Henry County and began to cultivate her deep faith at a young age as a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church, where she sang in the vesper choir; and
WHEREAS, Nell Doss and her family demonstrated their commitment to community service by volunteering to clean the church before Sunday services; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated lifelong learner, Nell Doss earned degrees from Bluefield College, Radford University, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; and
WHEREAS, Nell Doss pursued a fulfilling career as a counselor with the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired, using Roanoke as a base to serve people in need throughout the city and seven surrounding counties; and
WHEREAS, Nell Doss will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband of seven years, Charles; her siblings, Carlton, Bobby, Jimmie, and Ann, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Nell Frances Doss; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Nell Frances Doss as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
