Commending Volunteer Fairfax.

WHEREAS, Volunteer Fairfax, an organization dedicated to engaging people and organizations to amplify their community impact, celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024; and

WHEREAS, founded in 1974 as the Voluntary Action Center of Fairfax County, Volunteer Fairfax has grown over the years into an organization that annually engages more than 6,000 volunteers who provide more than 18,000 hours to more than 650 nonprofits and public agencies; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer Fairfax fulfills its mission through a variety of programs, special events, and services designed to strengthen local nonprofits, connect for-profit entities with community needs, recruit volunteers for meaningful endeavors, bolster government programs, and more; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer Fairfax is constantly seeking new ways to serve the community; in 2023 alone, the organization developed disability and inclusion toolkits and training to support its volunteers and nonprofit partners and a volunteer management training program approved for credit hours toward the Certified in Volunteer Administration credential; and

WHEREAS, as a testament to the organization's success, Volunteer Fairfax has been continuously named a best local nonprofit by Catalogue for Philanthropy, now Spur Local, since 2011; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Volunteer Fairfax over the past half-century have been made possible by the visionary leadership of its board of directors, the tireless efforts of its staff and administrative volunteers, and the unwavering support of its thousands of volunteers and the entire Fairfax County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Volunteer Fairfax hereby be commended on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to representatives of Volunteer Fairfax as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's history and its contributions to Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
