HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 676
Commending the Blue Ridge Christian School girls' basketball team.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, May 13, 2024

 

WHEREAS, the Blue Ridge Christian School girls' basketball team of Dayton won the Virginia Association of Christian Athletics state championship on February 24, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Blue Ridge Christian School Bears defeated the Dayspring Christian Academy Lions of Blacksburg by a score of 37–34 to bring home the program's second Virginia Association of Christian Athletics (VACA) state title in three years; and

WHEREAS, despite falling behind by as much as 21–7 in the contest, the Blue Ridge Bears remained confident and rallied to victory, turning the tide of the game with an impressive 18–4 run in the third quarter; and

WHEREAS, the Blue Ridge Bears grew together throughout the 2023–2024 season as the team overcame injury, illness, and other adversity to mount an outstanding 18–2 record; and

WHEREAS, the Blue Ridge Bears saw many strong performances throughout the year from Callie Paradzinski, who was named both VACA State Most Valuable Player and VACA State Tournament Most Valuable Player, and Anna Faith Brunk, who was named to both the VACA First Team All-State and VACA First Team All-State Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Blue Ridge Bears is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the steadfast support of their families and the entire Blue Ridge Christian School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Blue Ridge Christian School girls' basketball team hereby be commended for winning the 2024 Virginia Association of Christian Athletics state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lauren Killingsworth, head coach of the Blue Ridge Christian School girls' basketball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement.
