HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 661
Commending Keith Hirsch.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, May 13, 2024

 

WHEREAS, Keith Hirsch, an esteemed education administrator with Fairfax County Public Schools for nearly 25 years who has greatly served the students and staff at Cardinal Forest Elementary School, retires in 2024; and

WHEREAS, guided by the Cardinal Forest Elementary School mission to "strive for excellence in academics, in citizenship, and in life," Keith Hirsch prepared his students to pursue their goals and achieve success both in and out of the classroom; and

WHEREAS, over the years, Keith Hirsch developed his knowledge as an educator and education administrator by earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and a master's degree from George Mason University; and

WHEREAS, Keith Hirsch began his career at Fairfax County Public Schools as an educator and curriculum specialist, leveraging his expertise to design and implement impactful curriculum frameworks; and

WHEREAS, Keith Hirsch moved into education administration in 2010, served as assistant principal of West Springfield Elementary School and Cardinal Forest Elementary School, and was recognized among his peers as a 2023 Outstanding School-Based Leader by Cardinal Forest Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, applying a firm yet compassionate approach, Keith Hirsch effectively balanced managing disciplinary issues with maintaining a supportive classroom environment conducive to learning; and

WHEREAS, Keith Hirsch's dedication to student welfare extended beyond the classroom, as he actively participated in activities and conversations that brought joy to staff, students, and families; and

WHEREAS, Keith Hirsch implemented innovative strategies to enhance student engagement and achievement, leaving an indelible mark on the school's culture and the lives of many; and

WHEREAS, by fostering the academic, social, and emotional well-being of his students and nurturing the growth and development of his staff, Keith Hirsch has earned the admiration and respect of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Keith Hirsch hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement for his decades of service as an education administrator with Fairfax County Public Schools; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Keith Hirsch as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for his contributions to Fairfax County and the Commonwealth and best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement.
