Celebrating the life of Walter Williams Scott.

WHEREAS, Walter Williams Scott, a financial professional, dedicated community leader, and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend in Richmond, died on December 9, 2023; and

WHEREAS, a native of Richmond, Walter Scott earned a bachelor's degree and a master of business administration degree from the University of Virginia, then pursued a long and distinguished career in banking; and

WHEREAS, Walter Scott worked at banks in the Richmond area and was a board member of the Gloucester Banks Association; and

WHEREAS, outside of his career, Walter Scott was deeply devoted to Troop 400 of the Boy Scouts of America, serving as the longtime treasurer, managing fundraisers, and cooking meals for hikes, among other contributions; in 2001, he received the Silver Beaver Award for his exceptional volunteer service; and

WHEREAS, Walter Scott also provided his leadership and expertise to the Custis Fishing and Hunting Club, Chippokes Plantation Farm Foundation, Richmond Community High School, and other organizations; and

WHEREAS, a true renaissance man who lived by the Scout motto "Be Prepared," Walter Scott was generous with his time and talents and was always ready to help a friend in need, no matter the occasion; and

WHEREAS, Walter Scott enjoyed fellowship and worship with the community as a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he was a member of the vestry and chaired a lunch program during Lent for many years; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his wife, Vaughan, and his sons, John and Walter, Jr., Walter Scott will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his daughter, Mary; his children's families, including four grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Walter Williams Scott; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Walter Williams Scott as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
