WHEREAS, Tucker Swails, a senior pitcher on the Patrick County High School baseball team, reached an incredible milestone in April 2024, when he pitched his 300th career strikeout; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Swails joined the elite group of players to reach 300 strikeouts on April 23, 2024, when he recorded 16 strikeouts against Glenvar High School; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Swails began his senior year with 238 strikeouts and added dozens more over the course of the season, reaching 310 by early May 2024; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Swails is highly admired for his work ethic and passion for the game, and he is a skilled shortstop and hitter, in addition to his dominance on the pitcher's mound; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Swails is supported by his father, Tal Swails, who serves as the head coach of the Patrick County High School Cougars, and his grandfather, Sonny Swails, who is an assistant coach; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Swails will continue his baseball career as a student-athlete at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the fall of 2024; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Tucker Swails hereby be commended for pitching more than 300 career strikeouts as a high school baseball player; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tucker Swails as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his amazing athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
