WHEREAS, Sharon J. Stone is an esteemed public servant who has more than four decades of success with military readiness and health care; and
WHEREAS, from 1989 to 1999, Sharon "Sherry" J. Stone played a pivotal role in implementing centralized medical business operations across what was then United States Army Europe, helping to align the command's personnel, workload, and financial systems; and
WHEREAS, as a program manager between 1999 and 2004, Sherry Stone provided crucial medical cost accounting education and training to staff at Army medical treatment facilities, greatly facilitating the Medical Expense and Performance Reporting System; and
WHEREAS, Sherry Stone was promoted to senior financial analyst in 2004 and later spearheaded the development of the performance planning program of the United States Army Medical Command (MEDCOM), turning strategy into action and supporting the budget allocation of $6.3 billion for health care delivery; and
WHEREAS, in December 2018, Sherry Stone answered the call to lead, develop, and implement the Defense Health Agency's Quadruple Aim Performance Planning process, resulting in the creation of a single, integrated, transparent process to align military treatment facilities with the Defense Health Agency's priorities; and
WHEREAS, over the past two decades, Sherry Stone has trained more than 30,000 personnel across the Military Health System, sharing her valuable expertise in order to enhance the Military Health System's performance planning; and
WHEREAS, Sherry Stone was recognized in February 2018 by the Chief of Staff of the United States Army for her support of MEDCOM and the United States Army, and she is a recipient of the Department of Defense's Spirit of Service Award for displaying honor, integrity, and excellence as a public servant within the Department of Defense; and
WHEREAS, Sherry Stone's professional achievements have had a profound and positive impact on countless lives and are worthy of the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Sharon J. Stone hereby be commended for her exemplary contributions to the Department of Defense and the Military Health System; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sharon J. Stone as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for her support of the nation's military and its veterans.
