WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Seymour E. Levine, USA (Ret.), a distinguished military veteran from Vienna, died on March 2, 2013; and

WHEREAS, a native of New York City, Seymour "Ed" Levine grew up in California and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles; he later earned a master's degree from George Washington University; and

WHEREAS, after graduation, Ed Levine accepted a commission into the United States Army and embarked on an exemplary military career that spanned more than two decades; and

WHEREAS, a respected officer, Ed Levine served two tours of duty in Vietnam and earned numerous awards, including two Legion of Merit awards, the Bronze Star Medal, the Joint Services Commendation Medal, and three Army Commendation Medals; and

WHEREAS, Ed Levine was assigned to the Defense Communications Agency and also worked for the Department of the Army at the Pentagon before his retirement from the United States Army in 1977; and

WHEREAS, Ed Levine then began a second career in private industry with TRW, working primarily in systems engineering until he retired in 1996; and

WHEREAS, a true American patriot, Ed Levine served the nation with great dedication and devotion; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his wife, Jackie, Ed Levine will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Carey, Ed, and Lisa, and their families; his twin brother, Leonard, and sister, Roberta, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of an admired Virginian, Lieutenant Colonel Seymour E. Levine, USA (Ret.); and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Lieutenant Colonel Seymour E. Levine, USA (Ret.), as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
