HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 512
Commending Chad Michael Benton.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 3, 2013

WHEREAS, Chad Michael Benton, a senior at Franklin High School and member of Boy Scout Troop 17, has completed the requirements to attain the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Chad Benton, the son of David and Cindy Benton, has been an active member of the Scouting program for many years; and

WHEREAS, Chad Benton attended Cub Scout Day Camp, two years of Webelos Camp, and four years of Resident Summer Camp at Bayport Scout Reservation; he also spent a week with the Chesapeake Bay High Adventure Sailing Experience; and

WHEREAS, Chad Benton was elected into the Order of the Arrow in March 2009, attended the Ordeal in May 2009, and became a Brotherhood member of Wahunsenakah Lodge in May 2010; and

WHEREAS, a recognized leader in Boy Scout Troop 17, Chad Benton has served as patrol quartermaster, troop guide, troop scribe, and instructor for the younger Scouts; and

WHEREAS, Chad Benton has also camped 69 nights with the troop and logged 117 service hours; and

WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout project, Chad Benton decided to refurbish the flowerbeds, picnic tables, and wheelchair ramp at Rawls Museum Arts in Courtland; and

WHEREAS, Chad Benton and his team dug out overgrown flowerbeds around the Education Building, had the storm water drainage system revamped, and built mulch beds to help beautify the area; and

WHEREAS, Chad Benton serves as senior class president and co-president of DECA, competes in the senior division of Future Problem Solvers, is a member of the National Honor Society and Franklin Baptist Church, and plays on the school's golf and soccer teams; and

WHEREAS, a well-rounded and talented young man, Chad Benton plans to pursue a career in graphic design; and

WHEREAS, Chad Benton exemplifies the ideals of the Boy Scouts and provided valuable service to the community through his Eagle Scout project; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Chad Michael Benton hereby be commended on earning the rank of Eagle Scout; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chad Michael Benton as an expression of the House of Delegates' congratulations and admiration for his achievements and service to the community.
