WHEREAS, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a socio-spiritual organization and temple in Richmond for members of the Hindu denomination Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha and a volunteer-driven fellowship dedicated to improving society by promoting individual growth and fostering Hindu values of faith, service, and global harmony; and
WHEREAS, Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) currently has more than 100 chapters in more than 30 states, including five chapters in the Commonwealth, located in Richmond, Chantilly, Newport News, Staunton, and Roanoke; and
WHEREAS, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir was founded in 2005 and currently serves more than 350 members who regularly attend the organization's weekly services and more than 2,000 people who visit the temple on festival days such as Diwali; and
WHEREAS, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir actively supports the local community through presentations on health care and wellness, walkathons to benefit local and national organizations and agencies, and conferences to empower and uplift women; and
WHEREAS, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir connects with and nurtures the youth through various activities, preparing them to be upstanding citizens and the leaders of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir has enriched the lives of its members through spiritual guidance and abundant opportunities for worship, fellowship, and community outreach; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir hereby be commended for its legacy of service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its contributions to the Commonwealth.
