WHEREAS, Elogien I. Ali, a sixth-grade teacher at Saratoga Elementary School, was selected as the 2023 Outstanding Elementary School New Teacher by Fairfax County Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, Elogien Ali helps Saratoga Elementary School fulfill its mission to adapt to the individual needs of students and assist each one in becoming a resilient, motivated, and responsible citizen of a 21st century global community; and
WHEREAS, Elogien Ali prepares students to be resilient, critical and creative thinkers, collaborators, and communicators who are committed to lifelong learning and feel empowered to take responsibility for their own social and academic development; and
WHEREAS, Elogien Ali strives to create strong relationships with students from the very first day of school, working together with them to develop expectations for the year ahead; and
WHEREAS, Elogien Ali sets high expectations for her Saratoga Stallions and holds them accountable to their goals, while giving them the tools and skills needed to succeed in sixth grade and transition into middle school; and
WHEREAS, Elogien Ali offers students autonomy through student-led conferences and cultivates an inclusive environment, ensuring that every student feels welcomed and valued; and
WHEREAS, Elogien Ali has a passion for family engagement and is a founder of the Family Ambassadors Program at Saratoga Elementary School that is working to create a Family Resource Center; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Elogien I. Ali hereby be commended on the occasion of her selection as the 2023 Outstanding Elementary School New Teacher by Fairfax County Public Schools; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Elogien I. Ali as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to young people in Fairfax County.
