HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 37
Commending John T. Asper.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 11, 2010

WHEREAS, John T. Asper, a 12-year veteran of the Fairfax County Police Department, was selected as a 2008 Best of Reston Fairfax County First Responder Officer of the Year award recipient; and

WHEREAS, Private First Class (PFC) John Asper began his successful career with the Fairfax County Police Department in 1998 and graduated with the 33rd Session of the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated and hard-working police officer, PFC John Asper works at the Reston District Station on the Midnight-A Squad and served for an extended period of time as the only supplemental crime scene officer at the station; and

WHEREAS, PFC John Asper has shown great tenacity in crime scene processing and evidence collection and, along with his willingness and ability to take on extra duties, has tremendously helped his fellow officers and detectives at the Reston District Station; and

WHEREAS, PFC John Asper has received numerous awards from the department for his extraordinary devotion to duty, including two Meritorious Award commendations and a Team Excellence Award from the Crime Scene Section, as well as a Fairfax County Outstanding Performance Award; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career with the Fairfax County Police Department, PFC John Asper has performed his duties with great honor, integrity, and commitment to excellence in keeping with the proud traditions of the Department; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That John T. Asper hereby be commended as a 2008 Best of Reston Fairfax County First Responder Officer of the Year award recipient; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to John T. Asper as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his many accomplishments and devotion to public safety.
