WHEREAS, Ocean View Advocates for Reproductive Rights, a nonpartisan group of concerned residents of Norfolk, strives to uphold women's reproductive rights through advocacy and outreach; and
WHEREAS, after the reversal of Roe v. Wade in 2022, Joanne Taylor reached out to like-minded members of the Ocean View community and arranged a meeting to discuss their beliefs and goals which led to the creation of Ocean View Advocates for Reproductive Rights; and
WHEREAS, a beacon of unity and solidarity, Ocean View Advocates for Reproductive Rights now comprises about 60 members from across the political spectrum, all of whom are dedicated to promoting autonomy and dignity for all individuals; and
WHEREAS, Ocean View Advocates for Reproductive Rights harnesses the power of grassroots activism and engages with the community by fostering voter registration, promoting awareness campaigns, and conducting outreach initiatives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Ocean View Advocates for Reproductive Rights hereby be commended for its achievements in support of women in Norfolk and throughout the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ocean View Advocates for Reproductive Rights as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's work to ensure that women's fundamental rights are protected and respected.
