WHEREAS, the Associated General Contractors of Virginia, established on June 1, 1924, celebrates its 100th anniversary as a membership organization building a stronger community as the leading partner in Virginia's construction industry; and
WHEREAS, the Associated General Contractors of Virginia (AGCVA) serves 500 member companies with a relentless commitment to the ideals of skill, integrity, responsibility, and camaraderie; and
WHEREAS, from its inception to this significant milestone, AGCVA has been instrumental in advancing the construction sector, propelling economic growth, and enriching the lives of Virginians; it has stood as a cornerstone, fostering a community of visionary leaders, skilled workers, and innovative thinkers, driving the Commonwealth towards greater infrastructural advancements and prosperity; and
WHEREAS, from investing millions of dollars to support construction education and developing the next generation of skilled craftsmen, to creating a strategic partnership with state leaders that improves safety practices and reduces injury and illness on worksites while committing to nurture an inclusive environment where diversity thrives, AGCVA continues to focus efforts and energy on longstanding legacies that solidify construction as a model industry; and
WHEREAS, in tribute to the 100 years since the charter signing that established what is now known as the Associated General Contractors of Virginia, AGCVA is hosting events across the Commonwealth that recognize the heritage of its members, celebrate the strides of the industry's innovation, and prepare for future progress; and
WHEREAS, as the members of the organization commemorate this historical moment, they look forward with anticipation and excitement to the next century of advancements, achievements, and milestones that the AGCVA will undoubtedly champion, continuing its steadfast dedication to advocate, grow, and connect the Commonwealth's construction industry; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Associated General Contractors of Virginia hereby be commended on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Associated General Contractors of Virginia as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's history and its contributions to the Commonwealth.
