WHEREAS, Ronald McCormack, an esteemed resident of Vienna and a student at Gonzaga College High School, was recognized as a Distinguished Finalist in the 18th Annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards for his impressive community service activities; and WHEREAS, this prestigious award, presented by Prudential Financial, Inc., in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; and WHEREAS, Ronald McCormack earned this award by giving generously of his time and energy to founding "Reach Out for Kids, Inc.," which encourages young people to help those in need; and WHEREAS, Ronald McCormack began his program in 2010 and since then has raised $12,000 and recruited volunteers to conduct a number of service projects, including collecting books, school supplies, toys, clothing, and sports equipment for children in shelters and orphanages; and WHEREAS, the strength of communities, the success of the Commonwealth, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, on the enthusiasm of talented and enterprising young people like Ronald McCormack who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Ronald McCormack on his recognition as a Distinguished Finalist in the 18th Annual Prudential Spirit of Community Awards; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ronald McCormack as an expression of the General Assembly's congratulations on this distinguished honor and admiration for his selfless community spirit. |
