HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 44
Commending Denise Moser.

WHEREAS, Denise Moser, Executive Director and founder of Functional Fitness 4 Kids, Inc., was awarded the 2009 Community Leadership Award by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; and

WHEREAS, the President's Community Leadership Award annually recognizes outstanding individuals who help improve the lives of their fellow citizens by supporting, enhancing, or implementing physical activities or fitness programs within their community; and

WHEREAS, chosen as one of only 16 outstanding recipients, Denise Moser was honored nationwide by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; and

WHEREAS, established in 2005, Functional Fitness 4 Kids, Inc., (FF4K) has become a vital program that provides services and activities to the children of the Fairfax, Alexandria, Washington, D.C., and Prince George County communities; and

WHEREAS, a tireless advocate for young people, Denise Moser was singled out for the prestigious award because of her hard work as founder of the nonprofit FF4K, and for her dedication as a middle school health and physical education teacher at Lanier Middle School; and

WHEREAS, under Denise Moser's excellent leadership, FF4K has provided solutions to the nation's child obesity epidemic by increasing physical activity in adolescents and teens through free, after-school fitness programs and nutritional classes that are designed to increase self-esteem and promote a lifelong commitment to living a healthy lifestyle; and

WHEREAS, FF4K is dependent upon grants and the continued generous support of wonderful sponsors and individuals, like Denise Moser, who are committed to Virginia's children growing up to be healthy and productive citizens; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Denise Moser, Executive Director of Functional Fitness 4 Kids, Inc., on her well-deserved 2009 Community Leadership Award by the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Denise Moser as an expression of the General Assembly's gratitude for her dedication to the well-being of the children of the Commonwealth.
