HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 421
Commending Josephine Gonzalez.

WHEREAS, Josephine Gonzalez, the Domestic Abuse Response Team program manager for Loudoun County and Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice, Inc., doing business as LAWS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services, has greatly served the Loudoun County community; and

WHEREAS, Josephine Gonzalez joined LAWS in 2011 as a volunteer and two years later took a staff role as a bilingual advocate, supporting more than 700 survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking with case management, crisis counseling, and advocacy; and

WHEREAS, through a collaborative agreement between LAWS and Loudoun County, Josephine Gonzalez transitioned to serve as the Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) program manager in 2016; and

WHEREAS, as DART program manager, Josephine Gonzalez has helped Loudoun County enhance its response to domestic violence by coordinating training, offering opportunities for collaboration for allied professionals, and advocating for survivor-led, trauma-informed response across the community; and

WHEREAS, Josephine Gonzalez's major accomplishments with LAWS have included facilitating the large-scale implementation of the Lethality Assessment Program to identify and prioritize especially dangerous situations to improve outcomes for survivors of domestic violence; and

WHEREAS, Josephine Gonzalez's career has been defined by her unwavering commitment to ensuring that everyone feels safe in their homes, helping to make Loudoun County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Josephine Gonzalez for her legacy of service with Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice, Inc.; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Josephine Gonzalez as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her contributions to Loudoun County and the Commonwealth.
