WHEREAS, Loudoun County Citizens for Social Justice, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse with safety, hope, and empowerment services to live as survivors free from the effects of violence, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2024; and

WHEREAS, Loudoun County Citizens for Social Justice, doing business as LAWS, was founded in 1984 by three women in Loudoun County, who a year later opened a shelter to provide refuge to women and children fleeing domestic violence; and

WHEREAS, LAWS has expanded beyond its shelter over the years to provide a full array of comprehensive services to adults and children who are victims of domestic and sexual violence, including therapy, legal services, support groups, advocacy, and community outreach; and

WHEREAS, LAWS has developed into a public-private partnership between Loudoun County agencies and local organizations devoted to caring for and supporting victims of abuse or neglect; and

WHEREAS, as an extension of its mission, LAWS operates the Leesburg thrift store, The Resourceful Woman, and the Loudoun Child Advocacy Center; and

WHEREAS, LAWS provides direct services to more than 1,000 adults and children each year, making an outsized impact on the health and well-being of the community; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of LAWS are the result of the leadership of its directors and officers, the tireless efforts of its volunteers and staff, and the unwavering support of its partner organizations and the entire Loudoun County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Loudoun County Citizens for Social Justice, Inc., for its legacy of service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Loudoun County Citizens for Social Justice, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to the Commonwealth.
