WHEREAS, Jean Merrill, a devoted volunteer in Nelson County who has helped enhance access to primary care, dental care, and pharmacy services for all local residents through her work at Blue Ridge Medical Center, received the Virginia Health Care Foundation Unsung Heroes Award in 2015; and WHEREAS, Jean Merrill has served on the Blue Ridge Medical Center Board of Directors for more than 20 years, and as a longtime member of the Blue Ridge Medical Center Finance Committee, she has attended and actively participated in more than 300 meetings; and WHEREAS, prioritizing customer service at Blue Ridge Medical Center, Jean Merrill distributes, collects, and meticulously reviews patient satisfaction surveys and infection control surveys, making a special point to celebrate the achievements of staff members who have received positive comments from patients; and WHEREAS, during her 25 years of volunteer service, Jean Merrill has also been responsible for mail distribution—processing hundreds of thousands of letters and packages—delivering welcome packets to new patients, and escorting sales and pharmaceutical company representatives; and WHEREAS, Jean Merrill is an inspiration to the employees of Blue Ridge Medical Center through her tireless dedication to patients, generosity, work ethic, and positive attitude; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jean Merrill on receiving the Virginia Health Care Foundation Unsung Heroes Award; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jean Merrill as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her contributions to the patients and staff of Blue Ridge Medical Center and the entire Nelson County community. |
