Commending Lynne Hunter.

WHEREAS, Lynne Hunter of Herndon made history in 2023 when she became the first woman to be elected president of the Middle Atlantic Section of the Professional Golfers' Association of America since its formation in 1925; and

WHEREAS, Lynne Hunter will serve a two-year term as the 51st president of the Middle Atlantic Section of the Professional Golfers' Association (MAPGA) after having previously served as the organization's vice president from 2022 to 2023 and as its secretary from 2020 to 2021; and

WHEREAS, Lynne Hunter is the director of golf at Kenwood Golf & Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, contributing greatly to the club's reputation and esteem in the world of golfing; and

WHEREAS, as president of the MAPGA, Lynne Hunter will lead more than 1,100 members and associates of the organization to foster the sport of golfing in the Mid-Atlantic region; and

WHEREAS, Lynne Hunter is a dual member of the Professional Golfers' Association of America and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from James Madison University, and has been a golf professional since 1997; and

WHEREAS, Lynne Hunter has received many accolades over her career in recognition of her service, including National LPGA Professional of the Year honors in 2021 and LPGA Northeast Section Golf Professional of the Year awards in 2010, 2017, and 2022; and

WHEREAS, Lynne Hunter has demonstrated extraordinary professionalism and love for the game of golf over her career and through her involvement with the MAPGA, and her accomplishments serve as inspiration to all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Lynne Hunter for being elected president of the Middle Atlantic Section of the Professional Golfers' Association of America; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lynne Hunter as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements and best wishes for her continued success.
