WHEREAS, the Assistance League of Northern Virginia, a chapter of the National Assistance League, celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2024; and
WHEREAS, beginning as a guild in 1999 and formally chartered as a chapter of the National Assistance League in 2004, the Assistance League of Northern Virginia has demonstrated a deep commitment to addressing the needs of its community since its founding; and
WHEREAS, the Assistance League of Northern Virginia, like every chapter of the National Assistance League, designs, organizes, and implements service programs and other initiatives that best address the unique needs of the local community; and
WHEREAS, early endeavors of the Assistance League of Northern Virginia included its Weekend Food for Kids and Hugs Pillows endeavors, and the organization has continued to develop new programs over the years to expand its impact in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Assistance League of Northern Virginia advances its philanthropic efforts by providing opportunities in which its friends and supporters may purchase items from wishlists to donate to the organization's beneficiaries; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Assistance League of Northern Virginia have been made possible by the overwhelming support and generosity of its member volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the commitment of the Assistance League of Northern Virginia's members to the well-being, self-esteem, and education of at-risk youth in Northern Virginia has helped to make the region a more wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Assistance League of Northern Virginia on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Assistance League of Northern Virginia as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's history and its contributions to the Commonwealth.
