WHEREAS, A. Lee Ervin, a respected and hardworking public servant, ably served the residents of Augusta County as a Commonwealth's Attorney for more than three decades; and WHEREAS, a proud, lifelong resident of Augusta County, Lee Ervin graduated from Fort Defiance High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Bridgewater College; he received a law degree from the University of Richmond and was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1977; and WHEREAS, after completing his education, Lee Ervin returned home and served as assistant Commonwealth's Attorney for five years, before becoming Commonwealth's Attorney in 1982; and WHEREAS, Lee Ervin ran unopposed in numerous elections, and he faithfully executed the office for eight terms over the course of 33 years, earning the respect of attorneys, judges, and law-enforcement officers; and WHEREAS, Lee Ervin is an exemplar of the dedication, professionalism, and care for the community displayed by public servants throughout the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend A. Lee Ervin for his 33 years of service as Commonwealth's Attorney for Augusta County; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to A. Lee Ervin as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his legacy of service to the people of Augusta County. |
