HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 289
Commending Joseph Servideo, M.D.

WHEREAS, Joseph Servideo, M.D., an admired physician who has ensured that residents of Fauquier County and the surrounding area have received expert emergency care, retired as chair of the Fauquier Hospital Emergency Department in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Servideo knew from an early age that he wanted to be a doctor and, after graduating from the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, relocated to Fauquier County in 1977; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Servideo began his distinguished medical career in family medicine, working with individuals of all ages as he treated a wide array of conditions and provided compassionate patient care and education; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Servideo developed an interest in emergency medicine after working at the Fauquier Hospital emergency room on a part-time basis and switched to full-time emergency medicine in 1982, eventually becoming chair of the Emergency Department; and

WHEREAS, during Dr. Servideo's tenure at Fauquier Hospital, he saw the department grow from a four-room, six-bed center that served 10,000 patients annually to a greatly expanded state-of-the-art facility that now serves 35,000 patients annually; and

WHEREAS, committed to providing expert patient care, Dr. Servideo has stayed abreast of the latest advances in emergency medicine and earned the respect of his colleagues and hospital staff for his patient-centered approach to emergency medicine; and

WHEREAS, residents of Fauquier County and the surrounding area have greatly benefited from Dr. Servideo's care over the years; he leaves behind a well-run and organized emergency department that will continue to provide quality care to patients in the future; and

WHEREAS, in retirement, Dr. Servideo will remain active and of service to others, continuing to work part-time in the emergency room and pursuing biblical counseling at Grace Bible Church; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Joseph Servideo, M.D., for his distinguished service to the residents of Fauquier County and the surrounding area on the occasion of his retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Joseph Servideo, M.D., as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration and respect for his commitment to quality patient care.
