HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 271
Commending Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting.

WHEREAS, Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting, a beloved coffee shop and cafe located along the Columbia Pike corridor in Arlington County, closed its doors for the last time in November 2023; and

WHEREAS, Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting opened in 2001 and had been owned since 2005 by Gi Lee, a veteran of the Korean Army who served in Vietnam, who worked indefatigably for nearly two decades to deliver his customers world-class service and an always freshly roasted cup of coffee; and

WHEREAS, Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting was a favored gathering place for many of the area's residents, who came for the exceptional coffee, but stayed for the meaningful conversation and camaraderie with neighbors and friends; and

WHEREAS, Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting attracted a diverse and eclectic clientele and was welcoming to all, fostering a sense of community among people from various different backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, a key part of the success of Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting was the hard work and friendly service of Annie Lee, Gi's wife, and longtime Rappahannock employee Paul Deppler; and

WHEREAS, Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting will be celebrated and dearly missed for years to come by the many regular customers who knew it best; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting on the occasion of its closing for its years of service to the Arlington County community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Gi Lee, owner of Rappahannock Coffee and Roasting, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his business's contributions to the Commonwealth.
