HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 264 Commending the Langley High School boys' swim and dive team. Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 4, 2024 Agreed to by the Senate, March 6, 2024

WHEREAS, the Langley High School boys' swim and dive team earned its second consecutive state title with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship on February 16, 2024; and

WHEREAS, on the road to the state championship, the Langley High School Saxons also earned district and regional championships titles; and

WHEREAS, in the state final, the Langley Saxons recorded 216 points, defeating the runners-up from Robinson Secondary School by a comfortable margin; and

WHEREAS, for the second year in a row, the Langley Saxons won the state championship without winning an event and with no members of the team finishing in second place or higher in an individual event; and

WHEREAS, Hunter Zipperer placed third in the 50-meter freestyle race and Charles Hu placed third in the 100-meter freestyle race; several other swimmers finished in the top 15 of their events, making the victory a true team effort; and

WHEREAS, the Langley Saxons earned crucial points from the second place finish by Michael Zhou, Jacob Lee, Ethan Shin, and Hunter Zipperer in the medley relay and another second place finish by Michael Zhou, Charles Hu, Avery Kuhn, and Hunter Zipperer in the 400-meter freestyle relay; and

WHEREAS, the victory is a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of the coaches and staff, and the passionate support of the entire Langley High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Langley High School boys' swim and dive team on winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Langley High School boys' swim and dive team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements and best wishes for the future.
