Commending Neighborhood Health.

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Health, a health care safety net nonprofit organization and community health center in Northern Virginia, is celebrating 25 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Health's mission is to improve health and advance health equity in the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, and Fairfax County by providing high-quality primary health care regardless of a patient's ability to pay; and

WHEREAS, in its 25 years of service, Neighborhood Health has remained committed to the vision that everyone in the community deserves access to high-quality health care; and

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Health has worked tirelessly to increase access to health care for the most underserved individuals in Northern Virginia; the organization has grown to serve 35,000 patients in 2022, compared to only 1,500 patients when it was founded in 1997; and

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Health's patients are predominately low income, uninsured or underinsured, ethnically and racially diverse, and have few other options for accessing high-quality health care; and

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Health provides primary health care for adults and children, chronic disease care, pediatrics and newborn care, women's health care, prenatal care, dental care, behavioral healthcare, family planning, HIV care and prevention, optometry, pharmacy and lab services, immunizations, nutrition, cancer screenings, health insurance enrollment, and COVID-19 testing and vaccinations; and

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Health operates 14 clinics in high-need areas in Northern Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Health is accredited by The Joint Commission and certified as a Patient Centered Medical Home; it has been recognized for several consecutive years by the Health Resources and Services Administration for its high level of quality health care; and

WHEREAS, Neighborhood Health played a leading role in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Northern Virginia by administering more than 70,000 tests and distributing 30,000 self-tests and 13,000 N-95 masks; and

WHEREAS, in 2021, Neighborhood Health was selected to participate in the first round of the federal health center vaccine program and established vaccination sites, including a mobile vaccination clinic, in partnership with numerous local faith organizations, nonprofit organizations, and agencies; through this effort, the organization administered more than 90,000 vaccines in underserved neighborhoods; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Neighborhood Health on the occasion of its 25th anniversary of offering exceptional primary health care services to patients in the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, and Fairfax County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Neighborhood Health as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to public health in Northern Virginia and best wishes for continued success.
