HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 140
Commending Troop 710 of the Boy Scouts of America.

WHEREAS, in 2023, Troop 710 of the Boy Scouts of America in Goochland County achieved the notable distinction of awarding its 100th scout with the rank of Eagle Scout, the organization's highest honor; and

WHEREAS, Troop 710 is chartered to American Legion Post 215 in Goochland and is part of the Cardinal District in the Heart of Virginia Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA); and

WHEREAS, Troop 710 is currently supporting approximately 40 young people as they mature into seasoned scouts and active members of their communities; and

WHEREAS, Troop 710 organizes weekly meetings, monthly camping and backpacking trips, summer camps, service projects, and high-adventure excursions to provide its scouts with opportunities to develop their scouting skills and enjoy the camaraderie of the BSA; and

WHEREAS, the leaders of Troop 710 have worked tirelessly to guide their scouts through the arduous and rewarding process of becoming Eagle Scouts, contributing to their success both with the scouts and in life; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Troop 710 are a result of the hard-work and dedication of its scouts, who embodied the values of the BSA's oath and motto throughout their pursuit of the Eagle Scout rank; and

WHEREAS, Troop 710 exemplifies the positive and lasting impact that scouting can have on the lives of its members and on the community in which they serve; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Troop 710 of the Boy Scouts of America for installing its 100th Eagle Scout; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Troop 710 of the Boy Scouts of America as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the troop's outstanding achievement.
