HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 111
Celebrating the life of Gina Elizabeth Kohler.

WHEREAS, Gina Elizabeth Kohler, a talented performer who shared her love of dance with others as a business owner and educator, died on May 23, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Gina Kohler earned a bachelor's degree in dance from Kent State University and a master's degree in dance from Hollins University's American Dance Festival program; and

WHEREAS, over the course of her career, Gina Kohler performed at venues around the country and taught dance at institutions in New York, Michigan, Massachusetts, Ohio, Maryland, North Carolina, and Austria, among others; and

WHEREAS, Gina Kohler served as a visiting assistant professor and assistant director of the master of fine arts program at Hollins University from 2014 to 2017, developing several performances and participating in a range of work groups to enhance academic offerings and support diversity and inclusivity on campus; and

WHEREAS, in 2018, Gina Kohler joined the faculty of Community School, an independent school in Roanoke serving children between the ages of three and 14, as the drama, movement, and mindfulness teacher; and

WHEREAS, Gina Kohler will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her loving husband of 19 years, Eric; her son, Gino; her parents, Vladimir and Elizabeth; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Gina Elizabeth Kohler; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Gina Elizabeth Kohler as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
