HOUSE BILL NO. 2187 Offered January 14, 2015 A BILL to amend and reenact §23-38.53:4 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program; funding allocation. ---------- Patron-- Kory ---------- Committee Referral Pending ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That §23-38.53:4 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§23-38.53:4. Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program created.

There is hereby created the Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program (the Program) to provide financial assistance to eligible students for the costs of attending a public institution of higher education in Virginia. Funds may be paid to any public institution of higher education on behalf of students who have been awarded financial assistance pursuant to §23-38.53:6 and shall be allocated across institutions such that each institution is able to meet an equal percentage of the total demonstrated financial need of student recipients based on the Partnership Model adopted by the Council. The Council shall promulgate regulations for the implementation of the provisions of this chapter.
