A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 18.2-474.2, relating to secreting or concealing contraband by prisoners; penalty.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 18.2-474.2 as follows:

§18.2-474.2. Secreting or concealing contraband by prisoners; penalty.

Except as otherwise provided in §§18.2-431.1 and 53.1-203, any incarcerated prisoner or person committed to the Department of Juvenile Justice in any juvenile correctional center who, at the time of intake of the prisoner or person at the correctional facility, secretes or conceals, or attempts to secrete or conceal, any item of personal property in his possession that he is prohibited from possessing at such facility is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
