HOUSE BILL NO. 1371 Offered January 22, 2016 A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a section numbered 15.2-1408.1, relating to prohibition on certain local government mandates upon employers. ---------- Patron-- Miller ---------- Committee Referral Pending ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 15.2-1408.1 as follows:

§15.2-1408.1. Prohibition on certain local government mandates upon employers.

A locality shall not enact by ordinance, resolution, or otherwise any policy that requires an employer within the locality to provide an employee with a wage or employment benefit that exceeds the requirements of state or federal law. Any such local policy shall be unenforceable.
