The bill also provides that the Director of the Department of Medical Assistance Services may terminate or deny Medicaid provider contracts for a violation of statutes setting forth the crimes constituting Medicaid fraud or any other felony, or for any other reason for which the U.S Secretary of Health and Human Services may do the same. The bill also requires the Director of the Department of Medical Assistance Services to investigate options for a comprehensive system that utilizes external records search and analytic technologies for the collection and review of data from public and private sources, to detect, prevent and investigate fraud, waste and abuse in Virginia's medical assistance services program, and to report his findings by December 1, 2010.
