Summary
Applauds the progress made by the people of Taiwan toward the consolidation of democracy. Encourages the people and the government of Taiwan to consider the recommendations of international election monitoring missions, including the final International Election Observation Mission report, as they seek to strengthen democratic practices and human rights protections. Urges the President and the U.S. government to support democracy and human rights in Taiwan. Encourages all outside parties to remain neutral in Taiwan's elections. Affirms that Taiwan's future should be resolved peacefully in accordance with democratic principles.
