| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi on the occasion of | ||
| its 25th anniversary; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Veterans Band of Corpus Christi was founded on | ||
| June 3, 1986, in order to provide live music to enhance the spirit | ||
| of solemnity and grandeur inherent in patriotic ceremonies; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This dedicated group was formed under the | ||
| direction of Ram Chavez, a Vietnam War veteran and Purple Heart | ||
| recipient; consisting of veterans from all branches of military | ||
| service, the band has been honored by many local and national | ||
| organizations; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through the years, the band has performed at | ||
| countless patriotic ceremonies and for numerous state and | ||
| national leaders; it has played for Presidents George H. W. Bush, | ||
| Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush and was featured at the | ||
| inaugural parade of Texas Governor Ann Richards; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Current members of the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi | ||
| are Daniel Aguilar, Kevin Aguilar-Ferrari, Frank Alaniz, Bob Allen, | ||
| Albert Arzuaga, Jose A. Barrientes, Louis Bazaldua, Thomas Caldera, | ||
| Robert Callejo, Rene Cantu, Daniel Carranza, Ramiro Chavez, Antonio | ||
| Cirillo, Fernandez Cruz, Frank De los Santos, Thomas Dreyer, John | ||
| Earhart, Christopher Fridge, Gabriel Escobar, Jesse Escobedo, Crispin | ||
| Garcia, Leo Garcia, Amos Griffen, Terry Harris, Sixto Hernandez, Eddie | ||
| Heskett, Emmitt "Bubba" Jacob, Mark Johnson, Dr. Rick Lazarte, Juan | ||
| Ledesma, Floyd G. Loomis, Juan Lugo, Gilbert Luna, Richard Perez | ||

| WHEREAS, This exemplary band is truly deserving of | ||
| recognition for its enduring commitment to bringing respect and | ||
| dignity to patriotic occasions; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the Veterans Band of Corpus Christi | ||
| on 25 years of outstanding musicianship and extend to its members | ||
| best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the band as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
