| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Texas Visiting Nurse Service on the occasion of its | ||
| 40th anniversary; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texas Visiting Nurse Service was founded in | ||
| Brownsville on June 1, 1981, by Roberto Garcia and Pamela Bryant; | ||
| the home health agency then had 30 full-time employees and 900 | ||
| home care providers; some 800 patients were served in Cameron, | ||
| Hidalgo, Willacy, Starr, Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Duval, Kenedy, | ||
| Kleberg, and Nueces Counties; and | ||
| WHEREAS, At the time, only two other agencies existed in | ||
| the region, and they provided services in Cameron, Willacy, and | ||
| Hidalgo Counties; there are now hundreds of agencies providing | ||
| services to the citizens throughout the Rio Grande Valley; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the past 40 years, Texas Visiting Nurse | ||
| Service has continued to grow, and the agency boasts hundreds of | ||
| full-time employees and thousands of home-care providers; | ||
| countless patients receive a variety of valuable services, | ||
| including family care, primary home care, community living and | ||
| assistance support, respite care, and emergency response; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texas Visiting Nurse Service has undergone many | ||
| changes over the decades; office headquarters have moved | ||
| multiple times and there are numerous branch offices throughout | ||
| the area; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The employees and administrators of Texas | ||
| Visiting Nurse Service have demonstrated a strong commitment to | ||
| providing the highest quality of care to their clients, and they | ||
| continue to provide vital services to the Rio Grande Valley | ||
| community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend all associated with Texas Visiting | ||
| Nurse Service for the outstanding care they provide the people of | ||
| the Rio Grande Valley and extend congratulations to them on the | ||
| organization's 40th anniversary; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| Texas Visiting Nurse Service as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
