WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
recognize Larry Jokl, who is retiring after a successful 48-year | ||
career in the real estate industry; and | ||
WHEREAS, Larry Jokl began working in real estate in 1969, | ||
and he established his first company in 1972; he merged his | ||
business with John Wood in 1997 to form Jokl-Wood Realtors, and | ||
the firm eventually merged into the Valley-wide company known as | ||
Borderplex Realty, which was later sold to Coldwell Banker; | ||
Mr. Jokl continued to work as a realtor under his own name and is | ||
retiring as the owner of Larry Jokl, Incorporated; and | ||
WHEREAS, In the course of his career, Larry procured | ||
several properties that led to prime development in Brownsville, | ||
and he also worked to acquire land for developers in Amarillo and | ||
Beaumont; and | ||
WHEREAS, Highly respected among his peers, Mr. Jokl has | ||
served in leadership positions and on committees for numerous | ||
professional boards and associations; in 1999, he was appointed to | ||
the Texas Real Estate Commission by Governor George W. Bush; and | ||
WHEREAS, Larry Jokl has served as a member and a leader of | ||
several civic and charitable organizations, and he is a former | ||
director of the Rio Grande Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Jokl is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and he | ||
has served as event coordinator for the Fourth of July | ||
celebration in Brownsville since 2001; he is well known for his | ||
many contributions to the Brownsville community, and he is indeed | ||
deserving of recognition on the occasion of his retirement; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
Legislature, hereby commend Larry Jokl on his exemplary career in | ||
real estate and extend to him best wishes for continued success | ||
in all his future endeavors; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
