SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 960
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Larry Jokl, who is retiring after a successful 48-year
  career in the real estate industry; and
         WHEREAS, Larry Jokl began working in real estate in 1969,
  and he established his first company in 1972; he merged his
  business with John Wood in 1997 to form Jokl-Wood Realtors, and
  the firm eventually merged into the Valley-wide company known as
  Borderplex Realty, which was later sold to Coldwell Banker;
  Mr. Jokl continued to work as a realtor under his own name and is
  retiring as the owner of Larry Jokl, Incorporated; and
         WHEREAS, In the course of his career, Larry procured
  several properties that led to prime development in Brownsville,
  and he also worked to acquire land for developers in Amarillo and
  Beaumont; and
         WHEREAS, Highly respected among his peers, Mr. Jokl has
  served in leadership positions and on committees for numerous
  professional boards and associations; in 1999, he was appointed to
  the Texas Real Estate Commission by Governor George W. Bush; and
         WHEREAS, Larry Jokl has served as a member and a leader of
  several civic and charitable organizations, and he is a former
  director of the Rio Grande Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jokl is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and he
  has served as event coordinator for the Fourth of July
  celebration in Brownsville since 2001; he is well known for his
  many contributions to the Brownsville community, and he is indeed
  deserving of recognition on the occasion of his retirement; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Larry Jokl on his exemplary career in
  real estate and extend to him best wishes for continued success
  in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
