SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 909
WHEREAS, The University of Texas at San Antonio softball
team enjoyed a successful 2015 season, capturing the Conference
USA West Division title and advancing to the semifinals of the
conference tournament; and
WHEREAS, Under the guidance of head coach Michelle
Cheatham, the Roadrunners finished the year with an impressive
overall record of 36 wins and 18 losses; the team compiled a 16-7
mark against Conference USA opponents, and they claimed the West
Division championship with a dominating 10-2 triumph over
Louisiana Tech University in the regular season finale; and
WHEREAS, The Roadrunners continued their fine play in the
postseason, as they entered the 2015 Conference USA Softball
Championship tournament as the league's number three seed;
matching up once again with the squad from Louisiana Tech in the
opening round, the team received an exemplary pitching effort
from Kacy Freeze and timely hitting from Kendall Burton en route
to a 4-1 victory and a berth in the semifinals; there, the team
jumped out to an early lead over Florida Atlantic University
before eventually falling by a score of 6-4 to bring its season to
a close; and
WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, this exceptional
ball club received valuable contributions throughout the 2015
campaign from each member of the roster; and
WHEREAS, Through teamwork and determination, the Roadrunners
softball team has furthered the university's admirable tradition of
athletic excellence, and the players may reflect with tremendous
pride on a memorable season; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby congratulate The University of Texas at San
Antonio softball team on its outstanding 2015 season and extend to
the players and coaches sincere best wishes for continued success;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared
for the team as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
