WHEREAS, Margie Salazar has been named the new chief | ||
executive officer of FirstLight Federal Credit Union in El Paso, | ||
becoming the first woman to lead that institution in its 67-year | ||
history; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Salazar first joined FirstLight, El Paso's | ||
second-largest credit union, as a teller, and over the course of her | ||
25-year career, she has distinguished herself in the roles of vice | ||
president of retail operations, vice president of lending, | ||
executive vice president of operations, and chief retail officer; | ||
she held the title of chief financial officer at the time she was | ||
tapped to serve as the credit union's CEO; when she takes on her new | ||
position on February 1, 2023, she will oversee the operations of a | ||
credit union with approximately 300 employees, 109,000 members, and | ||
$1.5 billion in assets; and | ||
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan earned her bachelor's degree in | ||
marketing and management from The University of Texas at El Paso; in | ||
addition to her work at FirstLight, she has given back to the El | ||
Paso community through her service as board chair of the local YMCA | ||
and as a member of the advisory council of UTEP's Banking Academy; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Margie Salazar's proven record of leadership makes | ||
her a truly fitting choice to guide FirstLight Federal Credit Union | ||
into the future, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many | ||
accomplishments as she takes on the challenges and opportunities of | ||
her new position; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature | ||
hereby congratulate Margie Salazar on her appointment as CEO of | ||
FirstLight Federal Credit Union and that she be extended sincere | ||
best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Salazar as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas Senate. |
