R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Margie Salazar has been named the new chief
  executive officer of FirstLight Federal Credit Union in El Paso,
  becoming the first woman to lead that institution in its 67-year
  history; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Salazar first joined FirstLight, El Paso's
  second-largest credit union, as a teller, and over the course of her
  25-year career, she has distinguished herself in the roles of vice
  president of retail operations, vice president of lending,
  executive vice president of operations, and chief retail officer;
  she held the title of chief financial officer at the time she was
  tapped to serve as the credit union's CEO; when she takes on her new
  position on February 1, 2023, she will oversee the operations of a
  credit union with approximately 300 employees, 109,000 members, and
  $1.5 billion in assets; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan earned her bachelor's degree in
  marketing and management from The University of Texas at El Paso; in
  addition to her work at FirstLight, she has given back to the El
  Paso community through her service as board chair of the local YMCA
  and as a member of the advisory council of UTEP's Banking Academy;
  and
         WHEREAS, Margie Salazar's proven record of leadership makes
  her a truly fitting choice to guide FirstLight Federal Credit Union
  into the future, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many
  accomplishments as she takes on the challenges and opportunities of
  her new position; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby congratulate Margie Salazar on her appointment as CEO of
  FirstLight Federal Credit Union and that she be extended sincere
  best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Salazar as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
