| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Sergeant John G. Pohlman, who is retiring on June 16, | ||
| 2017, after 49 years of outstanding service with the Houston | ||
| Police Department; and | ||
| WHEREAS, John Pohlman became a member of the Houston Police | ||
| Academy class 37 in 1968; after his graduation, he was assigned | ||
| to the Houston Police Department's Radio Patrol Division, where | ||
| he served until he was promoted to sergeant in 1973; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was an original member of the department's | ||
| first Uniform Tactical Unit, and in 1975, he transferred to the | ||
| Narcotics Division, where he has served with distinction for 42 | ||
| years; he was the first supervisor of the division's High Risk | ||
| Arrest Team and served as a supervisor in the first combined | ||
| United States Customs, Internal Revenue Service, and Houston | ||
| Police Department Money Laundering Initiative; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He competed for 20 years on the department's | ||
| Conventional Pistol and Police Pistol Combat Teams and was a | ||
| participant in International Practice Shooting Confederation | ||
| competitions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An exemplary peace officer, Sergeant Pohlman is | ||
| respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at | ||
| the Houston Police Department will be greatly missed; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Sergeant John G. Pohlman on his | ||
| exceptional service to the people of Houston as a member of the | ||
| Houston Police Department and extend to him best wishes for | ||
| continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
