SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 892
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Sergeant John G. Pohlman, who is retiring on June 16,
  2017, after 49 years of outstanding service with the Houston
  Police Department; and
 
         WHEREAS, John Pohlman became a member of the Houston Police
  Academy class 37 in 1968; after his graduation, he was assigned
  to the Houston Police Department's Radio Patrol Division, where
  he served until he was promoted to sergeant in 1973; and
 
         WHEREAS, He was an original member of the department's
  first Uniform Tactical Unit, and in 1975, he transferred to the
  Narcotics Division, where he has served with distinction for 42
  years; he was the first supervisor of the division's High Risk
  Arrest Team and served as a supervisor in the first combined
  United States Customs, Internal Revenue Service, and Houston
  Police Department Money Laundering Initiative; and
 
         WHEREAS, He competed for 20 years on the department's
  Conventional Pistol and Police Pistol Combat Teams and was a
  participant in International Practice Shooting Confederation
  competitions; and
 
         WHEREAS, An exemplary peace officer, Sergeant Pohlman is
  respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at
  the Houston Police Department will be greatly missed; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend Sergeant John G. Pohlman on his
  exceptional service to the people of Houston as a member of the
  Houston Police Department and extend to him best wishes for
  continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
