| Thais Hamm Cochran | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
| commemorates the life of Thais Hamm Cochran, who died May 5, | ||
| 2017, at the age of 90; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Thais Cochran was born on July 18, 1926, in New | ||
| Orleans, Louisiana, to Lawrence and Alma Hamm; she graduated from | ||
| Redemptorist High School in New Orleans; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Thais and her beloved husband of 55 years, the | ||
| late John Alexander Cochran Jr., raised four children together, | ||
| Dianne Schlosser, Linda Kuntz, John Alexander Cochran III, and | ||
| Kasey Bowen; her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren were | ||
| a source of much pride and joy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She was an avid tennis player and took great | ||
| pleasure in her matches as a member of the North Country Women's | ||
| Tennis League; she also enjoyed playing card games and taking | ||
| trips to the casino with her friends; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her faith in her | ||
| daily life, she was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church | ||
| for 50 years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she | ||
| gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, her generous spirit, | ||
| and her enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be | ||
| forgotten; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, | ||
| and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by | ||
| her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Thais Hamm Cochran; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her | ||
| family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate | ||
| and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of | ||
| Thais Hamm Cochran. | ||
