R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Langston Lee of Rouse High School in Leander
  received a Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor at the 2023
  National High School Musical Theatre Awards, held at the Minskoff
  Theatre in New York City on June 26; and
         WHEREAS, The National High School Musical Theatre Awards,
  better known as the Jimmy Awards, aim to elevate the importance of
  theater arts education and reward excellence in student
  performance; since its inception, the program has awarded more than
  $5 million in educational scholarships; and
         WHEREAS, One of only two students in the country recognized
  with this prestigious award, Mr. Lee won best actor for his
  performance as Dmitry in Rouse High School's production of
  Anastasia, a musical written by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, and
  Terrence McNally that was adapted from the 1997 animated film about
  the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia; he
  earned a $25,000 scholarship to further his education, and at the
  ceremony, he performed "Wondering" from The Bridges of Madison
  County; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Lee was nominated for a Jimmy Award after taking
  home top honors at the 10th annual Heller Awards for Young Artists,
  held on April 19 at the Long Center in Austin; Rouse High School
  also earned several additional nominations at that event for its
  presentation of Anastasia, including for best production, best
  supporting male, best direction, best musical direction, best
  costume design, and best technical execution, as well as for
  student achievement in marketing, stage management, and design; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating exceptional talent and dedication,
  Langston Lee is a source of great pride to his school and to the Lone
  Star State, and he may look forward to a future bright with promise;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature, 2nd
  Called Session, hereby congratulate Langston Lee on winning a
  Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor at the 2023 National
  High School Musical Theatre Awards and extend to him sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Lee as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  Senate.
