SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 7
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Irma A. De La Riva
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Irma A. De La
  Riva, who died May 24, 2013, at the age of 76; and
         WHEREAS, Irma De La Riva was born May 26, 1936, in Uruapan,
  Michoacan, Mexico; she attended Incarnate Word School in Corpus
  Christi and San Antonio, graduating in the top five percent of
  her class, and earned a degree from Laredo Business College; and
         WHEREAS, She met her husband, the late Carlos De La Riva,
  while working in Indio, California; the couple moved to
  Brownsville in 1974, where together they established the
  Brownsville Income Tax and Bookkeeping Service; she was blessed
  with four children and several grandchildren and
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. De La Riva was a dedicated baseball fan and
  an enthusiastic follower of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim;
  she was also an avid dancer and gardener and took great pleasure
  in traveling across the western United States and Mexico; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of courage, determination, and
  compassion, she gave generously to others, and her intelligence,
  warmth, and enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will
  not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
  and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
  her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Irma A. De La Riva; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Irma A. De La Riva.
