Irma A. De La Riva | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Irma A. De La | ||
Riva, who died May 24, 2013, at the age of 76; and | ||
WHEREAS, Irma De La Riva was born May 26, 1936, in Uruapan, | ||
Michoacan, Mexico; she attended Incarnate Word School in Corpus | ||
Christi and San Antonio, graduating in the top five percent of | ||
her class, and earned a degree from Laredo Business College; and | ||
WHEREAS, She met her husband, the late Carlos De La Riva, | ||
while working in Indio, California; the couple moved to | ||
Brownsville in 1974, where together they established the | ||
Brownsville Income Tax and Bookkeeping Service; she was blessed | ||
with four children and several grandchildren and | ||
great-grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. De La Riva was a dedicated baseball fan and | ||
an enthusiastic follower of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim; | ||
she was also an avid dancer and gardener and took great pleasure | ||
in traveling across the western United States and Mexico; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of courage, determination, and | ||
compassion, she gave generously to others, and her intelligence, | ||
warmth, and enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will | ||
not be forgotten; and | ||
WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, | ||
and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by | ||
her family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Irma A. De La Riva; and, be | ||
it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Irma A. De La Riva. | ||
