BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, Regular Session, 2023, That Senate Rule 12.03 be | ||
suspended in part as provided by Senate Rule 12.08 to enable the | ||
conference committee appointed to resolve the differences on Senate | ||
Bill 1893 (prohibiting the use of certain social media applications | ||
and services on devices owned or leased by governmental entities) | ||
to consider and take action on the following matters: | ||
(1) Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the | ||
committee to change, alter, or amend text which is not in | ||
disagreement in proposed SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section | ||
620.001(1)(B), Government Code, by striking "by executive order" | ||
and substituting "by proclamation". | ||
Explanation: The change is necessary to ensure the proper | ||
method by which the governor specifies a social media application | ||
as a covered application. | ||
(2) Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the | ||
committee to change, alter, or amend text which is not in | ||
disagreement in proposed SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section | ||
620.001(2)(B), Government Code, between "a court of appeals," and | ||
"or the Texas Judicial Council", by inserting "a district court,". | ||
Explanation: The change is necessary to ensure that district | ||
courts comply with the Act. | ||
(3) Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the | ||
committee to change, alter, or amend text which is not in | ||
disagreement in proposed SECTION 1 of the bill, in the heading to | ||
added Section 620.005, Government Code, by striking "ORDER" and | ||
substituting "PROCLAMATION". | ||
Explanation: The change is necessary to ensure the proper | ||
method by which the governor specifies a social media application | ||
as a covered application. | ||
(4) Senate Rule 12.03(1) is suspended to permit the | ||
committee to change, alter, or amend text which is not in | ||
disagreement in proposed SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section | ||
620.005, Government Code, by striking "executive order" and | ||
