Louis Pitcock, Jr. | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
residents of Graham in mourning the loss of Louis Pitcock, Jr., | ||
who died March 22, 2013, at the age of 88; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born on June 18, 1924, in Fort Worth, Louis | ||
Pitcock graduated from Graham High School; he served his country | ||
during World War II in the Intelligence Section of the United | ||
States Air Force Strategic Air Command of Southeast Asia and was | ||
stationed in the China-Burma-India theater; and | ||
WHEREAS, He earned a bachelor's degree in history and | ||
government from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, | ||
and on June 29, 1949, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary | ||
Ellen McFarlane; and | ||
WHEREAS, Louis soon joined the family business, Pitcock, | ||
Incorporated, and helped oversee its diverse interests; he also | ||
was an active leader in the First United Methodist Church of | ||
Graham and in the Rotary Club of Graham; and | ||
WHEREAS, This exemplary gentleman placed great importance | ||
on civic duty and education; he served on the board of the Graham | ||
Chamber of Commerce, was chairman of the Graham Public Library, | ||
and helped establish the Board of Higher Education Commission of | ||
the City of Graham; in addition, he served on the Young County | ||
Democratic Executive Committee for 30 years; and | ||
WHEREAS, | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Louis Pitcock, Jr.; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Louis Pitcock. | ||
