| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Conroe Symphony Orchestra on the occasion of its 20th | ||
| anniversary, which is being celebrated on April 29, 2017; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Conroe Symphony Orchestra was established in | ||
| the summer of 1997 under the leadership of Herb Armentrout, Mary | ||
| Curtis Taylor, and Mark Multop with the mission of adding to the | ||
| cultural enrichment of the community and enhancing the quality of | ||
| life for the Conroe area; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since its founding, the organization has grown | ||
| and now consists of three divisions, the Conroe Symphony | ||
| Orchestra, the Friends of the Symphony, and the Conroe Symphony | ||
| Youth Orchestra; its success is due to a group of more than 225 | ||
| volunteers who work tirelessly to provide support for the | ||
| presentation of five classical concerts and for such projects as | ||
| fund-raisers, youth orchestra activities, and community | ||
| education and outreach programs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The orchestra's season includes a mix of classical | ||
| and popular music performed by a talented group of area musicians | ||
| and featured soloists; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Conroe Symphony Orchestra has become one of | ||
| the premier community orchestras in the state, and it is truly | ||
| fitting that this orchestra receive special recognition as it | ||
| reaches this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the staff, musicians, and volunteers | ||
| of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra on their dedication and hard | ||
| work and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 20th | ||
| anniversary celebration; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the orchestra as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
