SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 648
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Howard Newton Cox
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Blanco in mourning the loss of Howard Newton Cox, who
  died February 11, 2015, at the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, This lifelong Texan was born on January 26, 1934,
  in Blanco; he enriched the lives of all who knew him through his
  wisdom, his warmth, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the
  fullest; and
         WHEREAS, As a young man, Mr. Cox worked as a road paver, and
  despite having only a ninth-grade education, he started his own
  company, Cox Paving, in 1967; although it was a small business,
  the company helped pioneer the paving technique of blending
  rubber crumb into asphalt; years later, the company focused on
  hot asphalt rubber paving, and to keep up with the demand for the
  new processes, Mr. Cox launched D&H Equipment in 2003; and
         WHEREAS, A highly successful entrepreneur, he diversified
  his business endeavors by becoming involved with agriculture and
  cattle ranching in Belize, and in Texas, he founded the CX Cattle
  Company; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Cox was devoted to his family and shared
  nearly 60 years of marriage with Dolores Cox; they traveled the
  globe together, and they were blessed with six children, 19
  grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Howard Cox was respected and admired for his many
  contributions to the Blanco community and this state; he was
  beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories that will long be
  cherished by all who were privileged to share in his life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Howard Newton Cox; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Howard Cox.
